We all have a personal history that we carry with us and our dietary choices are often strongly influenced by this history. What we eat, how we eat, and when we eat is often a part of how we were raised and our societal and cultural influences. That is why you should NOT feel bad or be shocked when it is hard to give up that “favorite food”. Even when you know that food is not the best choice it will be hard to pass it by because it represents more than just a food item. It is part of your comfort zone. REMEMBER food and eating is often personal. Most of us eat food for more reasons than just sustenance. Parting with a favorite food is often as hard as losing a comforting friend. Be mindful of this and BE PATIENT as you work to adjust and improve your dietary habits.
